Wodaabe Gerewol enters the tradition of the Wodaabe Fulani male beauty contest, where men dress and adorn themselves to be chosen, presenting a male figure in the classic Gerewol display posture, body arched slightly backward, chin lifted, eyes wide, the full physical performance of beauty as currency. His face carries the artist’s skull-paint language adapted to the Wodaabe aesthetic, white-accented features on charcoal skin, and the white of his exaggerated eyes and smile floats a half-centimetre forward from his face, as if beauty is not fully attached to the body that displays it. This is a one of one original piece, the only work of its kind in the world, a mixed media fine art work of photography and digital art, Giclée printed on museum quality 310gsm Textured Fine Art Cotton Rag. A striking and culturally precise African painting available at Naija Art Store.
