The Returnee presents a male figure in a deliberate cultural collision, a full traditional Igbo isiagu embroidered top worn with contemporary slim trousers and modern leather shoes, a simple kufi cap on his head, a small leather travel bag slung over one shoulder. He stands mid-turn, assessing the room as if he has just arrived and is deciding what to make of it. From the open zip of his travel bag, small fragments of two worlds drift outward and float, a cassette tape, a cowrie shell, a foreign currency coin, a swatch of Ankara, all suspended in a slow drift between what he left and what he returned to.
