The Last Gele is one of the most intimate works in the collection, a close composition of two pairs of hands tying a gele on a head barely visible at the lower edge of the frame. The hands are careful and deliberate and loving, and as each fold of the gele is secured, the section of cloth already tied slowly turns translucent, becoming gauze, then light, then air, so that by the time the gele would be complete it will have dissolved entirely, leaving only the luminous evidence of its having been tied. A single gold bangle is visible on the wrist of the tying hands. This tender and devastatingly beautiful mixed media fine art print is Giclée printed on museum quality 310gsm Textured Fine Art Cotton Rag and limited to just 20 prints worldwide. Among the most emotionally precise pieces of Nigerian painting in the Naija Art Store collection.
