The Handover frames an elder and a youth at opposite ends of a deep burgundy red composition, a wide space of consequence between them. The elder extends one arm across the distance, hand open and turned downward, the giving hand. The youth extends one arm back across the space, hand open and turned upward, the receiving hand. Neither looks at the other. Both look at the gap between their palms where a beam of warm amber light connects them, the thing being transferred visible only as light.
