Pepper Seller’s Throne seats a large and commanding market woman on an upturned wooden crate with both arms spread wide along invisible armrests in the full posture of a queen granting audience. She wears a boldly patterned Ankara wrapper and blouse, her head tie tied with the natural authority of someone who has never needed to try. Around her on the floor, the peppers she sells form a perfect ceremonial circle of red, yellow, and green, her crate-throne at the centre of a seal she did not design but has always deserved. This is a one of one original piece, the only work of its kind anywhere in the world, a mixed media fine art work of photography and digital art, Giclée printed on museum quality 310gsm Textured Fine Art Cotton Rag. A joyful and declarative Nigerian painting about commerce, womanhood, and the royalty that the market has always contained. Available at Naija Art Store.
