Opa Egungun, meaning the Staff of the Ancestor, arranges one Egungun masquerade in full costume between two white-clad attendants who each hold a long carved ceremonial staff planted vertically on the floor beside them. The masquerade between them stands with arms loosely at sides and head level, being attended to. The left attendant bows his head toward the masquerade. The right attendant mirrors him. Both staffs they hold are in bloom, white flowers bursting from the carved wood as it is held, the staves bursting into botanical life in the hands of service.
