Omi, meaning Water, photographs a small child standing in a large clay bowl of water set on the floor, both feet inside, water at ankle depth, arms at sides, face forward in the stillness of someone being presented or receiving something. The child wears only a simple cloth wrapper. Their charcoal skin is the most concentrated darkness in the series, the small face the most absolute black. The water in the bowl the child stands in glows from below, blue-white light emanating from the child’s feet, as if the child is the source of the light that makes the water holy. This quietly miraculous mixed media fine art print is Giclée printed on museum quality 310gsm Textured Fine Art Cotton Rag and limited to just 20 prints in the world. A luminous Nigerian painting about innocence, sanctity, and the child who makes the ordinary sacred.
