Jollof in the Diaspora seats a woman in a comfortable but beautifully printed Ankara wrap dress at a low table with both hands around a steaming clay pot, her face leaning slightly over the pot in the posture of smelling, of checking, of knowing. The steam rising from the pot forms recognisable shapes as it climbs, the outline of an African map, then a house, then a face, each one dissolving into the next as it reaches the tomato red background. This is a one of one original piece, the only work of its kind anywhere in the world, a mixed media fine art work of photography and digital art, Giclée printed on museum quality 310gsm Textured Fine Art Cotton Rag. A warm and culturally resonant Nigerian painting about food, memory, and the kitchen as the first and most faithful embassy of home. Available at Naija Art Store.
