Gelede Gathering lines four Gelede masquerade figures in a straight horizontal row across a hot magenta frame, all facing the camera in identical postures, hands on hips, feet apart, the unified stance of feminine authority multiplied by four. Each figure wears a distinct Gelede costume and carved wooden mask in a different colour, white, red, gold, and blue. Above each mask, a living bird perches in the matching colour, a white dove, a red cardinal, a golden canary, a blue kingfisher. This extraordinary mixed media African painting is Giclée printed on museum quality 310gsm Textured Fine Art Cotton Rag, limited to a worldwide edition of just 20 prints. A bold and culturally rich work of fine art that makes an immediate statement in any art gallery, hotel lobby, or corporate space that values the power of the feminine in African tradition.
