Ékùn Masquerade presents the Igbo Ekpe leopard society masquerade in a wide, low, earth-connected stance, feet spread, knees bent, torso inclined slightly forward, both arms bent at the elbows with forearms raised and outward in the compact ready energy of a crouched animal that has decided to hold its power rather than release it. From the areas of the costume where the leopard-spot pattern is densest, actual spots of light detach and drift upward into the burnt sienna background like embers, or like the leopard shedding its own pattern into the air. This is a one of one original piece, the only work of its kind anywhere in the world, a mixed media fine art work of photography and digital art, Giclée printed on museum quality 310gsm Textured Fine Art Cotton Rag. A powerful and visually dynamic African painting available at Naija Art Store for collectors drawn to the energy of Igbo ceremonial tradition.
