Custodians arranges five figures in a wide horizontal line against a deep indigo background, two seated, one standing at the centre, two seated, creating a natural rhythm of presence across the landscape frame. Each figure holds an object of cultural preservation, a carved wooden mask, an open book of Yoruba poetry, a length of aso-oke, a clay vessel. The central standing figure holds nothing at all, their own body the archive. Above the standing figure’s head, seven light-points form a small constellation in the indigo air, a cultural symbol glowing above the human who needs no object to contain what they carry.
